Cavetown Concert AKA GETTING TO SEE ONE OF MY FAVE MUSICIANS AND FREAKING OUT

I WENT TO A CAVETOWN CONCERT A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND YOU GUYS IT WAS SO FREAKING AMAZING. Cavetown is an amazing artist and I love him and his music so so so so much. Lydia introduced him to me and she went with me to the concert. It made me so happy so I thought I would share it with you!! I haven't done one of these kind of relaxed photo diary posts in a while, so I'm excited.

I also did a youtube video so it would make me super happy if y'all could check that out and give me a like and subscribe if you haven't already.

His little sign is a lemon from his Lemon Boy song so I got my mom to draw it on my cheek. She did such a good job and I thought it was the coolest thing.

Our little trio. When we were waiting in line when someone up from (VIP I think) starting singing lemon boy and then I started singing it to and then everyone started singing and it was extremely beautiful.

Lydia looks cuter than me but it's fine.

If you knew cavetown, the people who were there were exactly who you would think. His music has a typppppe.

What made it even funnier was that there was a concert happening right next door and you could tell who was going to what. The people going to the other concert were all pretty and we're over here with overalls and doc martins and hoodies and short hair.

I got these adorable pins from the merch booth before it started. I put them on my lanyard for school and it makes me smile every time I look at it.

The opener was spookyghostboy! I hadn't heard about him before Robin (aka cavetown) had said they were touring together. To prep for the concert, I listened to his music. It's quite slow a lot like cavetowns. I enjoyed his music and he was fun to watch but he wasn't the best in concert.

THEN MY LITTLE ROBBIE CAME OUT AND I DIED. AND SO DID THE REST OF THE AUDIENCE. The first song they did was Green which is a gorgeous song and they turned the lights green.

The backdrop was the cutest!! It was a lemon tree with bugs and a kitty cat. Aka all of the things he's known for. And in the front, there was a lamp and hurb. We love hurb.

Near the begining, after like the second song he was like "Wow. Y'all might be one of the happiest audiences I've ever played for. You're just so aggressively nice." AND WE WERE SO AGGRESSIVELY NICE YOU DON'T REALIZE. After every song we were screaming how great he was and just everything.

THIS IS LIKE A KAZOO MACHINE. They were selling kazoos so all throughout the concert people would play them going with the songs. Every time that happened he smiled and ahhh. AND THEN HE PULLS OUT THIS BABY FOR ONE OF THE SONGS AND I'M LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING AND IT WAS SOOOO GOOD.

LOOK AT THIS ADORABLE HUMAN.

Pretty phone lights. One of my fave songs by him is "Boys Will Be Bugs" and one of the lines are "Don't mess with me I'm a big boy now and I'm very scary. I punch my walls, stay out at night, and I do karate. " After the karate line I screamed same cause I do karate and he didn't notice but it made me happppppy.

He has another song called "Fool" which is actually the first song I really loved by him and one of the lines are "I am still your baby boy I'm stuck in 2013." BOTH ME AND LYDIA SCREAMED SAME. It was the best.

Magic? Yes.

At the end they had a flying air plain contest and it was greattttttt. I was like lol what is happening but also we love. You know that feeling?

They had a poster and these cuties were taking a picture so then I take a picture because logic.

Y'all probably think I'm insane now but it's ok I except it. Comment down below some of your fave artists and concerts you've been to in the past! I'm always looking for new people to listen to. :) And make sure to check out the vlog I did of the concert!

What To Do When "Loving Your Body" Is Hard | Guest Post

I'm really excited today because a super super cool blogger is doing a guest post! She is always talking about being body positive and self love and she is just so inspiring to me. Today she has written up an awesome article about What To Do When "Loving Your Body" Is Hard, which I think is something we can all relate to. :)

Over 80% of women in America want to lose weight. We live in a culture fixated on looks, size, and constantly aspiring to be a smaller size. If you’ve ever struggled to love your body, you’re not alone, and it’s not your fault. From a young age we are fed lies about what “healthy” looks like. It’s incredibly difficult to shed years and years of myths that have been ruthlessly drilled in our heads.

So, what is diet culture?
Diet culture is the idea that :
  • Being skinny is the healthiest way to live
  • You need to lose weight if you don’t fit into society’s ideal look of a woman/man
  • Having “fat” is bad and means you are unhealthy
  • There is an ideal attractive body shape (ex. Slim thick)

If you want more information about diet culture be sure to check out my YouTube video all about it!

We see evidence of diet culture everywhere. Such as magazine having one body type, advertisements for weight loss, and the non-stop pressure to conform to a certain size. “Slim Thick” is the latest body “ideal” shape that has been pushed.

Diet culture pushes a cycle onto people that goes like this :

It’s safe to say that the diet industry profits off of making young women feel insecure.
On “Unearth My Roar”, it’s all about empowerment. Dieting promotes restriction, which is the OPPOSITE of uplifting. Here are my TOP THREE TIPS to feeling amazingly confident. Because, you’re worth it.

  1. What defines someone’s worth?
Think of three people you admire. And go through these line of questions.
  • What do you find admirable about ______?
  • Is it their body or their achievements/attributes?

For example, you could use Ellen, Oprah, Michelle Obama, or any other icons.
These people have become memorable because of who they are, and what they have done. Their body and looks do not define them. Even when you meet someone for the first time, your impression is based off of how their personality and nothing to do their weight.
So, your WORTH comes from the inside. And, your personality’s pretty dope.

2. Increase the body diversity into your life.
We are constantly only seeing one type of body. Thin & Tall. To break the cycle, we should expose ourselves to more than one body type. It shows that we come in all shapes & sizes and that’s something to embrace. If you’re interested, check out my Instagram to get more inspiration for starting on this journey of self love, and more recommendations for body-posi bloggers.

3. Taco bout it…
Yes! Talk about it over tacos, or pizza, or WHENEVER. Taco Tuesday, anybody? Seriously, talking about it is the first step to healing.

“There is nothing more powerful than vulnerability.”

If you think you’re alone, I promise you aren’t. Seek out a trustworthy friend, or a family member, or even a school counselor. Just be honest about your struggles and it will lift the weight off of you. Also, my DMs are always open. Sometimes you just need to have someone to listen. What step are you going to take today to love yourself?

Creator Spotlight | Natalie From Capturing Life On Camera

Today I'm going to be sharing a creator spotlight with someone who I have been loving for a bittttttt. Natalie is a blogger. youtuber, and photographer who I met on Instagram. She's awesome and I love talking to her and reading her post. Stay tuned for photography tips, why she started blogging, and morrrrrre.
What is your name and what does it mean? If you're named after someone who is it
and what does that person mean to you?
I always get asked this question but honestly, my parents just liked the name, Natalie.
My Dad used to joke that I was named after Natalie Portman but whenever he said that
my Mom would roll her eyes.

Haha cool. Why did you start blogging? Do you see yourself blogging in the future?
I started blogging back in 2011 because I loved watching Youtube videos on beauty and
makeup. At the time I did not realize my lack of makeup knowledge which is why
“Beautybynatalie 24” became “Takeapolaroid” to what it is today (Capturing Life on
Camera). In the future, I hope to use blogging to discover new hobbies and hopefully
discover what I will study in college (in a year and a half!).

Good luck!! How do you spend an average day?
My average day is spent in school. I just recently got my license so I have been driving
myself to school and driving my friends home after school. I get home around 3 pm and
I work on homework, procrastinate, and occasionally take some Instagram photos of my
outfit. In the Spring, lacrosse practice starts for me so my days will be extremely hectic.

Driving must be cool! Also now I'm just wondering when your school ends + starts
to be able to get home at 3 haha. What are your favorite hobbies? How would you
describe yourself in 4 words? Just tell us a bit about yourself.
Other than blogging, as I mentioned previously I play lacrosse. I tend to hide the worlds
of my other hobbies from each other so I never really get to talk about it. I have been
playing since second grade and I guess you could say I am pretty good. I made my high
school’s varsity team as a freshman which was one of my greatest accomplishments! I
also love taking portraits of friends but I would love to branch out and turn my
photography into a mini business. My 4 words to describe myself are determined, busy,
quiet, and creative.

Wow congrats on getting on varsity as a freshamn!! That super cool! How do you
come up with blog posts and how do you usually go about writing one?
I always have blogging on the back of my mind. I guess you could say I’m a true content
creator because whenever a topic pops into my head, my blogger subconscious kicks in
and goes, “wait that would make a great blog post!” If I am feeling really inspired at the
moment, I will go right to the notes section on my phone and bang it out right then and
there. Otherwise, it is almost like pulling teeth to try and come up with valuable content.

Blogging is always at the back of my mind as well! What are your 3 biggest
photography tips for newbies?
[1] Get Inspired: I first got into photography by finding photographers that I love and
*attempt* to emulate their style. You will learn so much about your camera and
different techniques compositionally
[2] Don’t be basic: You won’t make it as a photographer if you are just taking pictures
of flowers in your backyard. Find a subject that is interesting, inspiring, or informative
to make your photos stand out.
[3] Keep Shooting: You will never get the perfect shot unless you take at least 50 more
along with that one.

I totally agree with all of those!! If you could collab with anyone dead/alive who
would it be?
I would LOVE to collab with Billie Eilish or Emma Chamberlain for the same reason. I
would love to ask them about what it is like having a full-time job and being so
successful as a teenager. I am the same age as both Billie and Emma and I think I
would be very inspired by talking to them.

That would be so interesting. If you had to choose a career now what would it be?
If I had to choose right now, I would love to make blogging full time. In all honesty, it is
not the most realistic idea considering that I am in high school and I probably would
not be able to function with the income of a small influencer, but I think if I had the
means I could make it work.

I would also lovvvvvve to be a full time blogger but have the same problems haha. :)
What do you see happening with your blog in the next year? What do you want to
happen?
This year I see my blog growing more than ever before considering the digital age that
we are currently in. As much as I would like this to happen, I would need to work really
hard at creating content, being persistent, and coming up with unique ideas.

What are your tips for other people wanting to start a blog?
I know everyone says this but just start. The earlier you start, the more time you will
have spent on it, the more you will make mistakes, and the more you will learn. The
only way to create a successful blog is to fail multiple times.

What is your aesthetic?
My aesthetic has changed many times throughout this year but recently it has been more
green, orange, red, pink, etc. However, my room is the polar opposite being grey, blue,
black and white.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I think I am both. I love to be alone because I am an only child and a grew up keeping
myself busy but I also love hanging out with my friends and being in a large group of
people. But I guess that I am more introverted than extroverted because I prefer to listen
in a conversation than bud in.

Yayyy I super hope you enjoyed that!! If you want to find out more about Natalie feel feel to check her at the places linked belowwww.

If you ever want to collab I would love to!! Just email me at nabilaeve@gmail.com. Comment down below your answer to any of the questions! Also, I would love to know if you want more creator spotlights!! I love doing them but I want to put out content that you guys actually enjoy. :)
