That Time I Got To See Kristin Chenoweth

Helllllo my beautiful friends!! Today I'm doing a little post on something I got to do recently!! Basically, my
school got free tickets to go see Kristian Chenoweth (aka the original person to play Glinda in Wicked)
do a little interview and also sing!! It was so cool so I thought I would do a little post on it. :) First I'm

going to say what happened and then share some quotes!

So when my mom first emailed me about it asking if I wanted to go I freaked out and of course, said yes!
On the actual day I drove with my friend Isabel and we met up everyone else at a high school. There they
had a bus and like five of my friends came!! The bus ride there was super cool as we basically just laughed
and were super weird the whole time. After maybe 30 minutes we arrived at the theatre in a university
where the event was being held. There were a lot of adults in formal outfits and I felt kind of
underdressed haha. After we got our tickets, Isabel and I shared a soft pretzel which was great because
soft pretzels are pretty much the best thing ever.

After that, we sat down again and it actually started!! She came out and everyone cheered and they started the interview. She was so crazy sweet and personal and she seemed like she was honestly having a good time which is just so cool. Plus her little southern accent made her sound like this sweet old lady and also she's 4'11. Anyone who is a successful 4'11 = super cool in my book. I'm 4'11 and a 1'2 just for the record but my mom is 4'11 so I understand the shortness. Fun fact she was on sesame street one time.  

After the interviewer finished asking her questions the audience got to ask some questions. One of the people who asked questions was one of our chaperones and she shouted out her daughter who just happened to be sitting right next to me which was quite funny. She also said what school she was from and we all screamed when she said it haha. After all of the questions, she sang three songs and they were just absolutely beauiful!! Her voice is absolutely gorgeous and it was absolutely mesmerizing to listen to.

5 Free Fun Things To Do In Houston

As you guys might know I live in the wonderful city of Houston, Texas aka the 4th largest city in the US aka a pretty cool place. If you're reading this you either a) live here as well, b) are coming here, or c) are a loyal blog reader of mine who is super cool. All of you guys are awesome. Because I love it here so much I thought it would be super cool to share with you guys some of my fave free things to do here!

Miller Outdoor Theatre 

I have done a couple posts on the Miller including here and here. Honestly, it's one of my favorite ever places in Houston. Like ever. They have free amazing shows all the time. Maybe it's a concert or a play or a musical or they're showing a movie. It's an outdoor theatre but there are two parts. Number one the seated area which has fans and a roof part even though it's still open. For that, you have to get tickets (which are still free) but you have to go early. Also for the shows that don't sell out (it usually doesn't) around ten minutes before the event starts they let people fill in the seats that aren't already occupied. If you don't want to sit there though there is an awesome hill where you can bring blankets or chairs and it's a super fun atmosphere.

Discovery Green 

Discovery Green is a lot like the miller! It's an urban park right smack down in the middle of the city and it's pretty awesome. There's a lot of green space, an actual playground for kids, and a lot of events scheduled all the time. They have workshops, fun things for little kids, kayaking during the summer, yoga, and during a certain time, they have this awesome series where every Thursday they have these awesome free concerts. I actually did a post on it herrrrrreeeee.  For that one, though it wasn't specifically part of Discovery Green instead it was from Avenida Houston which is right by discovery green and also cool. The only downside is that because it is downtown all of the parking lots are paid and when other events are going on like at the Toyota center sometimes street parking will be pretty full so parking can sometimes be annoying.

Waugh Drive Bat Colony  

You probably don't but if you've been reading my blog for a bit you might remember this post and how cool I thought it was! Basically every day at sunset these bats fly out from under this bridge and it's crazy amazing to see because they are all over the sky. It's basically like a humongous flock of birds expect they're bats which you probably don't get to see that often. I thought it was like the most amazing thing when I got to see it and it's super fun for the whole family. You should probably arrive around 20 minutes before whenever sunset is supposed to be that day so you don't miss it plus parking might be a bit annoying. Find more info about it here. 

Graffiti/Mural Wall 

Ever since it opened around November 2016 I've done around 4 photo shoots here, one with a professional photographer when we were taking family photos. Aka this place is amazing and one of the best places to take photos in Houston. Graffiti and murals are almost always some of the best places ever to take photos and this place has like 30 all on either two or three buildings (I might have forgotten). Fun fact my old church actually owns one of the buildings. There is also a graffiti and street art museum opening sometime soon but according to there website they were delayed by Harvey and aren't sure when they're actually opening. 

Museum District 

I absolutely love museums so so much and on Thursdays a bunch of them are free! How crazy cool is that???? Some of my faves are probably the natural science museum and the art museum. If you want to stray from the norm though there are also museums like the art car museum, the contemporary art museum, air terminal museum, and the buffalo soldier museum.

Nabila Went To A Baseball Game And She's Going To Tell You About It Because Reasons

Nabila also felt like writing in 3rd person for some reason. I'm not exactly sure why. She might be crazy. Just a little bit. Haha. Hi! Nabila in 3rd person is back. First sorry for not posting yesterday. I had a post I wrote but I didn't feel that great about it so I just didn't. So I went to something sports related today.

Right! It's weird. I am kind of into sports. A little bit. Actually not really. I am into sports like I wouldn't mind watching a soccer or football or some other sports game every once in a while but I am not going to ask to do that and I definitely don't play any sports. I would much rather stay inside with my computer all day. I'm just stating facts here. I had a lot of fun though because I had never been to a baseball game before and I love new things so I thought why not share it with you guys. 

Some of our neighbors who just moved in are super nice so they gave us all tickets to the game. The husband gets them for free from work. 

The game was at Minute Maid Park which is like the main baseball stadium in Houston. 

Because I'm me I didn't even know who the Astros (the Houston team) were playing but after some very deep investigating aka the loud speaker screaming I figured out they were playing the Blue Jays who are from Toronto. They sang the Canadian National Anthem (I think that's what it was) and I got so confused. Then my mom explained that they always do both teams anthems and I figured out who they were playing. 

Before they started playing there was a bunch of baseball stuff like ceremonial first pitch and some person saying let's play ball and more things I didn't know was a thing until I went. There were a couple of super cute little kids who I guess are part of a baseball program who did some stuff and that just made me smile. 

I also learned the game really starts 30 minutes before the game starts. It makes sense if you have been to a game.

When you try to take a selfie and absolutely fail. 

The Astros mascot is the weirdest thing in the entire world. It is literally an alien. When I saw it I thought it was some animal that I just didn't know of and my dad said "Well they are the Astros. You know. Like space". So I was like "Wait so they are literally aliens???". He just nodded. It's kind of cute though. 

When the baseball game started I realized how different it is from other sports because It is so slow. People get up in the middle of the game, they talk, they leave before the game is even done and stuff like that. You don't really see that in other sports. It is not a very popular sport and I think that is mainly because it is so slow. 

A cool thing about baseball that sets it apart from other sports, is that families can still afford tickets. We got them for free but if we were like super into it, we might actually go because it is not that expensive. It is different from like football which any regular person can't really afford anymore. Another thing that sets it apart is that most people know most of the rules. Even I knew the basic rules which really means something. 

The stadium is really cool both from the outside and inside. There is glass on the sides and the top can open up. There is also this weird train thing on the side that I am not sure why it is there but it is. Plus there really aren't any that bad of seats. You can see at least a little bit from any of the seats. 

Popcorn. Glorius glorious popcorn. The people who we got the tickets from also gave some tickets to another one of our neighbors that my younger sister is really close too and they bought popcorn and I pretty much stole it. I love popcorn. 

So pretty much how the game went was the first few innings were very boring and annoying and nothing happened. Then I think maybe 4th inning the blue jays scored two points from a home run which surprised me because the Astros are supposed to be really good and I think the best in there league. Then I think the next inning the Astros scored 3 points so we thought they were winning. Then the blue jays scored 4 points so it was 3-6 with the Astros winning. I, of course, thought the Astros would win. 

Then, of course, just when it got interesting my family decided we had to leave. Oh so fun but my sisters were getting bored and the other family was leaving. I wanted to stay though. Like you don't leave in the middle of the game.

The building is interesting because there are different levels, and it is kind of confusing. 

I saw this as we were walking back to our car so I had to take a photo. H-Town is a name for Houston. 

So when we got home, we had dinner with my teta and gedo (grandparents), and I didn't bring my phone because it was charging. Do you see where I am going here? My mom walked home (we live right next door to them) to do something while we had dessert. After that, I walked home because they were talking and it was getting boring. When I walked in the door my mom told me................................................................................................. Can you guess?????? Well, the Astros won is what she told which made me pretty happy because I was sure they would not win. So I ran over to my dad and told him, and it was cool. I looked it up and they somehow got four points at the very end of the game which is super impressive. 

So Nabila decided to be sporty. Ok, but a question for you guys. If you were reading my blog and just giving it a glance over, on a first impression, would you think I was super girly or maybe more tomboyish sporty? I would say I am a combination, but online, I think most people think I am really girly. Soooooooo.. Have you ever been to a baseball game? If so, did you like it? If not, do you want to? Photo Diary // Cirque La Vie + Things To Do In Houston

I have not done a photo diary in so long guys. It has seemed like forever. If you are new to my blog in my photo diary posts I basically just put a bunch of photos of a place I went to/anything I did. I like doing them and I think you guys like them too. Maybe. I don't know. So a couple days ago my family and I went to Discovery Green which is an urban park downtown (it is so cool) and we saw this circus thing. It wasn't an actual circus but there were acrobats and contortionists (which is like bending in weird ways) and a bunch of stuff like that. It wasn't professional but it still looked so cool. I think the company that put it on has a school who offers classes to teens and adults. They are doing it every Friday this month so if you live in Houston you should totally go!

Before it started the artists we walking around and getting people to come up and dance and one of them chose me and it was kind of embarrassing cause I can't dance but it was fun. 

I told you it was cool. 

They are literally off the ground holding themselves up with one leg and they are also doing the same thing as each other. Like what. 

I definitely cannot do that. I have trouble doing normal stretches. 

And think the called the rope part "the web" or something like that. I'm not sure. But the person liked climbed up and did cool tricks and only used one hand and spun and it was extremely impressive. 

But what makes it even cooler to me is that they also had to dance and perform and act (facial expressions and that kind of thing) while doing these amazing things. Plus they probably have actual jobs or some of them almost looked like they were still in school.  

It lasted about an hour and they took pictures with people afterward. 

So I got a picture. Kind of. 

Another super cool thing about it is that it was right in front of a convention center and it was basically on a street (that was, of course, blocked off). 

The pink lights are amazing. 

I saw this heart as we were walking back so even though I wasn't wearing something that flattering I still asked my parents if they could take a picture of me.
