Holidays!

For all my American Readers on thursday was thanksgiving and on friday was black friday. I went to my grandmother's house in Oklahoma. For dinner I had the regular mash potatoes, turkey, and, pie. And then after Linner (lunch and dinner) I went to see the peanuts movie with was fine though it was a little kid movie so it wasn't my favorite. I would much rather have watched Mockingjay Part 2. For me thanksgiving represents the beginning of winter and the winter holidays. Yesterday my family put up the christmas tree and put some decorations around the house. Today started advent with is a christian event that leads up to christmas. There Are many different types of holiday people celebrate this time of year (e.g. christmas, hanukah, and, a bunch of other holidays)

Because of this I thought why not make a little survey to see what people celebrate. So that is exactly what I did. Here it is.

My Saturday / 2 year blogiversary / Q in Q&A

My blogiversary was actually on the 19t but that's besides the fact. Can you believe it! I have officially been blogging for 2 years.

(not my pic)
I personally think that is a pretty big accomplishment. I am not going to do giveaway or anything but I am going to have a Q & A. So if you have any questions for me please put them in a comment :)

Ok now to the actual post. Yesterday was a pretty adventurous day for me. First my mom made me clean a bunch (this is not the fun part) and then I got to go to the Art Crawl with was super fun. If you don't know what it is. It is where there are a series of warehouses and stuff like that and you can freely go and look at all the artists pieces and also you can buy them. I would have taken some pictures of the art but my dad said your not supposed to take pictures of things people are selling.  The last place place we went to was a place with lots and lots of statues of presidents and stuff like that and there was also some old comedian that I forgot the name of of. This I did take pictures of.

the beatles (I think)

After that I went to pick up my grandfather from a medical conference (he arrived on friday and is leaving sunday, or today) Then we drove from there to a sushi restaurant. My great-uncle (grandfather's brother) met us there. The food was fine at the restaurant but nothing special. After dinner my sister and the older adults went home and my other sister, me, and, my parents went to an asian market. In side of the place smelled very bad. They had live frogs in a bin that they were selling it was super weird. They actually spelled frog forg but still. They also had turtles and tortoises and a  bunch of other stuff. So that was interesting. After that we went there we went home and I went to bed.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Book #1: Book Review

I was going through the library shelves trying to find something worth reading when I came across the rick riordan section. I almost skipped it since I had already read all the books by him (or so I thought) but a book with a vibrant color caught my eye. If you haven't guessed it yet, it was his new book, The Sword of Summer.  I had been wanting this book for a while (or at least since I knew he had a new book) but I never thought it would be at my local library. But for some reason it was.

Magnus Chase has had to take care of his own since the night his mother died. He's always stayed ahead of the police. But one day he learns someone else wants him ,his uncle Randolph, a man his mother told him to stay away from.  Randolph started telling him about a bunch of norse mythology and a mysterious weapon that has been lost and only he can recover it. His uncle keeps talking about doomsday, wolves, like he saw at his mother's death, and, the Gods of Asgard. Though he doesn't really have time to fathom all this before he hears loud sounds and if face to face with a fire giant.

From the chapter titles (with made me laugh more than once) to the snappy giants I loved this book. I love how Magnus narrates the story so that you can really know what he's thinking. One thing that was just the tiniest weird thing to me is that Disney was on the book. I think they might have been the publishers or something but when did they become publishers? Though if an author has struck a deal with disneys that pretty cool. If you have liked Rick Riordan's books in the past or just like magic, fantasy, mythology with real people than this is the book for you!

Also on a completely different note If you didn't already know the new star wars movie is coming out soon!

DIY Pencil Holder

I was doing dishes yesterday when I came across an empty can that reminded me of something at school I saw, a pencil holder with duct tape made out of a can. And that is exactly what this post is going to be about.

Supplies needed

-1-3 different fun duct tapes (I am only using 1)
-scissors
-a can ( like a refried bean or tomato sauce can, it doesn't really matter)

1. If there is any paper on the can you want to peel it of. Water is an easy way to do that. Then you should scrub the can a little to get all of the sticky stuff off, though you don't have to stress yourself over this because you're going to be putting stuff on it later anyway.

2. Now to cut the tape. If you are using the regular size duct tape then you want to cut 3 strips of duct tape that fit around the can of that are the same size. One of them you want to then cut in half.

3. Now to actually make the holder and put the supplies together. First put the 2 big pieces of duct tape around the middle of the can. With the two little strips you will put one at the bottom and one at the top to cover the rest of the can. For the strip at the top make sure to cover the sharp part in the can so when you're reaching to grab a pencil you don't cut yourself.

4. Now put some pencils or pens in your holder and admire your handiwork. You just made yourself a cute pencil/pen holder.

Hope you like it! If you make this yourself you can email me a picture of it at nabilaeve@gmail.com.

My trip

I haven't been posting in a little while because I have been going/preparing for a trip that I went on. That's also why I haven't been doing nanowrimo lately.  I went to south carolina for my aunts wedding. I left on thursday and came back around 9:00 on monday. The trip takes 16 hours in the car from here to there and it is pretty boring but we were listening to a book in our car so it's not that bad. On Friday was the rehearsal dinner. I am not actually in the wedding but the dinner after the rehearsal was really good and I met someone from the groom's family who was around my age and super fun. On saturday was the wedding. Since my sister was the flower girl we had to go early around 12;00. I was wearing a super pretty dress that was super puffy and then the actual wedding started at 2:00. The reception after the wedding was super fun. I had dinner though all the kids just got chicken fingers with I personally don't think tasted that great. But they had a DJ and so I danced a munch though a lot of the music was in arabic with I can't understand so that was just the tiniest bit annoying but it was still fun. I met a lot of new people from my family that I didn't know. Some of them knew me but I didn't really remember them. I have a really big family. I stayed up to around 11:00 and when I got back to my hotel room I plopped into bed and was fast a sleep like 30 seconds after that. On sunday I went to the park and restaurant with some of my california cousins I got some really good pics from the park. Unlike were I live there the leaves actually change color so they were super pretty and at the park there was a pretty waterfal.

Which one is your favorite?

Halloween

Hi everyone! I hope you had a good halloween! I had a pretty decent one I would say.

I went to my friends halloween party for halloween with was super fun. When I was getting in the car to go to her house this person from school screamed "NABILA" and for some reason after that I was cracking up and laughing and he probably decided I was crazy but at the time I guess I thought it was funny. Ok back to the party. It was super fun and they had a lot of cool decorations like a bag shaped like a human in the front yard with a foot sticking out with I ended up picking up and throwing in the air. We started going trick or treating around 6:00 and got back at around 7:00. I got a quite a bit of candy and for some reason more than all of my sisters with is a little bit weird. I was a devil (yes I am christian it wasn't supposed to be offensive or anything) but it turned out to be more like a cat with wings wearing a really cute dress because the head band with the ears broke in half and the thing that I was supposed to carry got lost so instead I wore cat ears. Here is a picture of me and my friend lydia taken by my mom.

(sorry its not that great of a picture)

How was you Halloween? What did you do?
