Interview With A 14 Year Old Singer And Actress

Sorry I haven't posted on my blog in a while! I've been working on some other things that have been giving me a lot of joy (aka youtube and insta) but today I'm back for a super exiting reason! I was recently contacted about a young artist who is releasing a song and they were wondering if I could maybe tell some people about the song. I, of course, happily agreed as one of my goals with social media is lifting up other young artists. This time it is Gigi, a 14 year old actress and singer, who I have the pleasure of interviewing today! I'll have all of her links at the end but first I wanted to ask her a bit about her new song and what it's like to live with fame at such a young age.
What was your inspiration for your new song?

My new single ‘Obsessed’ is loosely based on a real life experience I had with a crush.  The idea
of the song is how easy it is for kids or really anyone to slip into a stalker role with social media
these days.  You can easily go from attracted to obsessed with someone via apps and social
media. The song also explores the idea of a strong female figure recognizing that something
isn’t right and calling the guy out on it. Kind of a role reversal in the way we usually think of
stalkers. I really like challenging old stereotypes and turning them upside down.

What is like being in the spotlight at such a young age?

I don’t really know anything different. Not that I have had a spotlight on me my whole life, but
when I chose to pursue a life in the public eye, my parents helped me cautiously navigate the
world by advising me that everything I do is for public consumption and to act accordingly.  I
was just saying to someone today that most kids who desire a life in this field really believe it’s a
fast-paced, glamorous ride with all the luxuries that go along with fame, but it’s not the case at
all. There are wonderful moments to cherish and enjoy, but the reality of my day-to-day is
training my mind and body, including my voice and emotions, to a pretty full schedule of
meetings, teleconferences, writing sessions, touring preparation, calls with my manager, dance
lessons, personal training to strengthen my core for stage stamina, and rehearsing my songs.
Then there’s the daily flood of online personalities I work through handling my social media.  I
have an amazing fan base, but there are some people out there who like to rain on other’s
parades. You have to have a very thick skin to do this career, and so far I’ve grown to mature
and become more self-aware.

What are some ways you think your daily life differs from that of a normal 14 year old?

Probably in almost every area. I’m pretty much a business at this point, and not your average 9th
grader! I have a team of incredible people as a foundation around me supporting me with my
music, movies and TV appearances, song-writing, tour, branding deals and other personal
appearances. I don’t know any other teen who wakes up to do this (LOL)! I am so lucky to get to
do what I do, but sometimes I miss the day-to-day of school and friends. My parents asked me
many times to reconsider this life and I told them that it’s not even a choice, I wouldn’t have it
any other way. I know I’ve missed some epic milestones in the life of a normal teenager, but the
perks of what I get to do even out the playing field for me.

What was your favorite thing to do in the music video for 'Obsessed'?

It was definitely was making so many new friends on set. It was so much fun! We shot in a real
high school called Fashion High in NYC and real students were in the classroom scenes. I made
friends with those kids, especially the ones who were cast in roles. We went from the high
school in NYC out to Long Island and shot a party scene at a mansion there. It was supposed to
be my house in the video (my mom wanted to buy it but it wasn’t for sale!) and we had a house
party scene that was more fun than I could put into words. I also fell down the stairs while
filming and landed flat on my back and the whole set went radio silent until I looked up and said
“ya’ll can laugh, I know that looked hilarious.” And every person from the sound to lighting
person to the producer busted out laughing.  It was epic.

Creator Spotlight | Natalie From Capturing Life On Camera

Today I'm going to be sharing a creator spotlight with someone who I have been loving for a bittttttt. Natalie is a blogger. youtuber, and photographer who I met on Instagram. She's awesome and I love talking to her and reading her post. Stay tuned for photography tips, why she started blogging, and morrrrrre.
What is your name and what does it mean? If you're named after someone who is it
and what does that person mean to you?
I always get asked this question but honestly, my parents just liked the name, Natalie.
My Dad used to joke that I was named after Natalie Portman but whenever he said that
my Mom would roll her eyes.

Haha cool. Why did you start blogging? Do you see yourself blogging in the future?
I started blogging back in 2011 because I loved watching Youtube videos on beauty and
makeup. At the time I did not realize my lack of makeup knowledge which is why
“Beautybynatalie 24” became “Takeapolaroid” to what it is today (Capturing Life on
Camera). In the future, I hope to use blogging to discover new hobbies and hopefully
discover what I will study in college (in a year and a half!).

Good luck!! How do you spend an average day?
My average day is spent in school. I just recently got my license so I have been driving
myself to school and driving my friends home after school. I get home around 3 pm and
I work on homework, procrastinate, and occasionally take some Instagram photos of my
outfit. In the Spring, lacrosse practice starts for me so my days will be extremely hectic.

Driving must be cool! Also now I'm just wondering when your school ends + starts
to be able to get home at 3 haha. What are your favorite hobbies? How would you
describe yourself in 4 words? Just tell us a bit about yourself.
Other than blogging, as I mentioned previously I play lacrosse. I tend to hide the worlds
of my other hobbies from each other so I never really get to talk about it. I have been
playing since second grade and I guess you could say I am pretty good. I made my high
school’s varsity team as a freshman which was one of my greatest accomplishments! I
also love taking portraits of friends but I would love to branch out and turn my
photography into a mini business. My 4 words to describe myself are determined, busy,
quiet, and creative.

Wow congrats on getting on varsity as a freshamn!! That super cool! How do you
come up with blog posts and how do you usually go about writing one?
I always have blogging on the back of my mind. I guess you could say I’m a true content
creator because whenever a topic pops into my head, my blogger subconscious kicks in
and goes, “wait that would make a great blog post!” If I am feeling really inspired at the
moment, I will go right to the notes section on my phone and bang it out right then and
there. Otherwise, it is almost like pulling teeth to try and come up with valuable content.

Blogging is always at the back of my mind as well! What are your 3 biggest
photography tips for newbies?
[1] Get Inspired: I first got into photography by finding photographers that I love and
*attempt* to emulate their style. You will learn so much about your camera and
different techniques compositionally
[2] Don’t be basic: You won’t make it as a photographer if you are just taking pictures
of flowers in your backyard. Find a subject that is interesting, inspiring, or informative
to make your photos stand out.
[3] Keep Shooting: You will never get the perfect shot unless you take at least 50 more
along with that one.

I totally agree with all of those!! If you could collab with anyone dead/alive who
would it be?
I would LOVE to collab with Billie Eilish or Emma Chamberlain for the same reason. I
would love to ask them about what it is like having a full-time job and being so
successful as a teenager. I am the same age as both Billie and Emma and I think I
would be very inspired by talking to them.

That would be so interesting. If you had to choose a career now what would it be?
If I had to choose right now, I would love to make blogging full time. In all honesty, it is
not the most realistic idea considering that I am in high school and I probably would
not be able to function with the income of a small influencer, but I think if I had the
means I could make it work.

I would also lovvvvvve to be a full time blogger but have the same problems haha. :)
What do you see happening with your blog in the next year? What do you want to
happen?
This year I see my blog growing more than ever before considering the digital age that
we are currently in. As much as I would like this to happen, I would need to work really
hard at creating content, being persistent, and coming up with unique ideas.

What are your tips for other people wanting to start a blog?
I know everyone says this but just start. The earlier you start, the more time you will
have spent on it, the more you will make mistakes, and the more you will learn. The
only way to create a successful blog is to fail multiple times.

What is your aesthetic?
My aesthetic has changed many times throughout this year but recently it has been more
green, orange, red, pink, etc. However, my room is the polar opposite being grey, blue,
black and white.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I think I am both. I love to be alone because I am an only child and a grew up keeping
myself busy but I also love hanging out with my friends and being in a large group of
people. But I guess that I am more introverted than extroverted because I prefer to listen
in a conversation than bud in.

Yayyy I super hope you enjoyed that!! If you want to find out more about Natalie feel feel to check her at the places linked belowwww.

If you ever want to collab I would love to!! Just email me at nabilaeve@gmail.com. Comment down below your answer to any of the questions! Also, I would love to know if you want more creator spotlights!! I love doing them but I want to put out content that you guys actually enjoy. :)

Creator Spotlight | Vaishnavi From Water Under The Bridge

Another collaboration post this time a fun creator spotlight with Vaishnavi from Water Under The Bridge. She's a super coolio newbie blogger (although she's been in the blogging universe for about tow years) and I like her blog. That might just be because she mentioned me in one of her posts and said she liked my blog when she emailed me but DETAILS DETAILS. Let's get started with her interview and welcome her to the blog!

What is your name and what does it mean? If you're named after someone who is it and what does that person mean to you?
So my name is Vaishnavi and I was named after Saraswathi, the Hindu god of education and arts! But since it's hard for some people to pronounce they just call me Vaish. Pretty cool if I do say so myself.

Oh my gosh that's so cool!! What is your blog name and what does it mean? How did you come up with up?
My blog name is Written in Stars. I'm a little.. okay very obsessed with Doctor Who, and the show inspired me to dive deeper and delve farther than any one's ever gone. So Written In Stars just means that my story will live on with the stars in space- The Final Frontier... well not that dramatic but yeah :p

Haha I love that. :) How do you spend an average day?
Besides school since it takes up much of my time, I feel really energized in the morning so I like to either work or read in my garden. And okay, I do have to admit that I feel lazy in afternoons, so I just relax and either watch anime or read some more. In the evening I either blog, journal, or listen to music. Basically like a third of my day is spent reading cause I'm a bookdragon. Really. Sometimes I feel like I can just live off books and spend all of my time doing that. Wait, does that make me a vampire?

I think you're a book vampire. It's official now. What are your favorite hobbies?
Reading is my favorite thing to do when I have down time. Otherwise, I like listening to rock, making collages and practicing my drawing, chatting with my friends, and taking pictures (I'm super into photography).

Fun!! What is your favorite thing about the blogging community?
Wow, where do I begin? Well when I first discovered the blogging/bookish community, I was kind of baffled at how everyone was like family. Everyone was really supportive of each other so that was awesome. Also I feel like while every blogger has their own individual personality, you can all relate with each other :)

AWWW yess same!! We're all a big family and it's great. :) :) How do you come up with blog posts and how do you usually go about writing one?
I totally don't publish my post at the very last minute.  Okay just kidding. Well...
I feel like ideas just come to me whenever I'm doing something I like or have never tried before. For example, I wrote a post on deconstruction- something that I've never done before and it was tons of fun to write. Whenever I have an idea I make note of it, so if I'm stuck I can just check it out. As for writing a post, I just let the words flow. I usually just ramble and free-write about the subject and edit it all later. I add pictures and formatting, and boom! A blog post is born!

What does your blog mean to you and why would you say you blog?
My blog is like an outlet for me to express my thoughts. I blog because I want to tell a story- many blogs I read inspire me, so I hope that maybe I can inspire others. Plus, I want to meet new people!

Meeting people is one of my fave things about blogging. If you could hang out/meet any living person for an hour who would it be?
I was not expecting this to be so hard. There are so many people I could choose. I feel like most of them would be adults, so sticking with people around my age I would probably want to meet Ella Fields. If you don't know, Ella is an awesome filmmaker- she writes, edits, and shoots short films on awareness. Every creation has an impact, you know? She would probably be someone I'd hang out with.
I don't know who that is but wow she sounds so cool! I'll have to check her out! If you had to choose a career now what would it be?
Photography/journalism! I feel like these are two things I love to do. If I could, I'd be a travel photographer, because I'd also want to travel the world one day.

OH MY GOSH SAME. What do you see happening with your blog in the next year? What do you want to happen?
Hmm, well I see myself continuing to blog for one thing, because I usually stop what I start. I hope that I can be genuine in whatever I make and not be afraid to be myself! I also hope that I can create a small community within my blog and meet amazing new people.

I hope you keep blogging to. :) Anything else you would like to share?
That's pretty much it. Thanks for interviewing me Nabila! Oh wait. I need to know- what are your thoughts on activism and pizza. Yep, a totally random question.

Of course girly! And activism and pizza are probably some of the best things on the planet.

If you want to see more of her feel free too heck out her google+, Pinterest, and of course her blog! I love collabs so if you ever want to do anything feel free to email at nabilaeve@gmail.com or dm me on instagram!

Creator Spotlight | Rosie From Two Points Perspective

This post is super exciting for me!! I remember when I used to be subscribed to Rosie's daily newsletter and I kind of freaking loved it. I read her emails literally every day and it just felt like a friend. She now has an amazing blog and seriously both her blog layout and writing is so awesome like teach me how you do this????? Today we're doing an interview swap! Soooo once you finish reading this you can check out her blog to find my answers to her questions. :) Let's get started and welcome the wonderful Rosie!

go team applause GIF by Molang.Official

What is your name and what does it mean? If you're named after someone who is it and what does that person mean to you?
My first name is Nicole, but I go by my middle name, Rose. (Do you have any ideas how many times I've
had to say that?) Nicole means "victory of the people". Rose refers to the flower of the same name.
Sadly, I am not named after anyone.

Cool! What is your blog's name and what does it mean? How did you come up with up?
My blog's name is Two Point Perspective. After deciding to step back from one of my long-term blogs,
Self Known, I was inspired to create a new blog. I desperately wanted to step into a new Internet
space, and because I'm majoring in art therapy, I thought it would be cool to mesh some creative terms
together. But I had the hardest time trying to figure something out. I turned to my family for support,
brainstorming with them until my brother suggested "two-point perspective". It's a design aspect used
to create the illusion their word is 3D. But because perspective can also mean mindset, or how you
look at things, I thought it was a great way to tie in the mental health aspect of my blog with the artistic
side. In short, Two Point Perspective means using art (defined as anything created in any medium by
any individual) to heal and pursue our best selves.

Wow that's such a cool title and thought process behind it! How do you spend an average day?
My average day starts at about 6:30 am when my alarm goes off for the fourth time. I dedicate my first hours of the day to preparing for the day, mentally (quiet time and devotionals), physically (showering, picking out something that makes me feel cute), and emotionally (praying for what's ahead). Then I like to sit down at the computer and work on any school projects. I work until I get hungry, then take a break to make a snack or lunch, depending on the timing and which sibling is in charge of food that day. Then I squeeze in some more school before commuting to my afternoon classes. After class, I usually have something extra, like a lab or a piano lesson. Then I head home, do more school, eat dinner, and stop all school stuff (unless urgent) by 6 pm. Then I have my creative time, which includes blogging, organizing, walking the dog, and working on my novel. Then I plop down in bed by 10 pm, pretending I'm not watching YouTube for an hour, and pass out.

What are your favorite hobbies?
I have so many! Blogging is in the top three, along with piano and writing creative fiction. Among the other things I like to do: bullet journaling, reading other blogs, watching anime, and reading manga.

What is your favorite thing about me? I want to know ok do not judge me haha.
Hey, I'm not judging, girly. ;) My favorite thing about you would have to be your presence. You have this bubbly, positive, smiley, giggly presence that I find infectious. You attract people in search of something to brighten their day, and that's what you do. You brighten it!

Awwww thank you so much! That's like all I've ever wanted to do haha. :) How do you come up with blog posts and how do you usually go about writing one?
A lot of the time my posts are about issues I've struggled with personally and then somehow found a
solution to -- either through writing the post or just on my own through experience. I also draw
inspiration from other bloggers, people I watch in public (don't judge me now, haha), and conversations
I overhear or participate in.

If I have an idea I like to write it down ASAP, just so I don't forget it. Sometime it will be a title or the gist,
other times it will be all the steps I want to include, plus the lesson I've learned. If I have time I'll open
up Blogger and free write until there's nothing left in my brain. Other times I'll make a note on my phone
and it may stay there for weeks. The posts I feel are the most helpful, inspired, and I feel good about
sharing are the ones that go live on my blog.

What does your blog mean to you and why would you say your blog?
My blog is an experimental learning platform, just like many other blogs are. It honestly means so much
to me, especially since I've let go of the notion that I need to be a popular blogger. I'm content where I
am and it's taken me such a long time to get to that point.

I blog because I am selfish. It's a way I express myself and work through my problems. But it's also how I
connect with others and learn to help them in the best way that I can, whether that be through going
through something relatable or making them laugh.

If you could hang out/meet any living person for an hour who would it be?
Honestly, I would have to say Abbiee! She is just so inspiring and I'd love to pick her brain on a whole
bunch of things -- plus I'd love to just hang out in her aesthetically pleasing room, drink tea, eat waffles,
and stare at her awesome bookshelves. <3_<3

CAN I COME WITH YOU GUYS THAT WOULD BE COOL. If you had to choose a career now what would it be?
I would be a writer, because that's my dream goal -- along with being an art therapist. But if I'm just a
writer I wouldn't have the privilege of going through six years of college now would I? ;)

What do you see happening with your blog in the next year? What do you want to happen?
I see growth happening. A growing community of creatives sharing and promoting each other's work.
People helping one another creative and find healing.

I would love to monetize my blog eventually but right now the focus is on school. I hope to have time in
the future to really focus on expanding my reach and helping as many people as possible.

What is one topic that you're really passionate about?
I'm very passionate about finding the best possible way to do something aka productivity. I am
obsessed with finding tips and tricks that actually work and I love to obsessively organize my time to get
the most out of my days. Perhaps that's a bit odd, but it's the truth.

That's really cool! Anything else you would like to share?
I am so thankful to have the opportunity to do this interview exchange with you! Thank you for
collaborating. I hope to do it again in the future. :)

Aww I super duper loved collaborating as well!!

That was super awesome!! If you want to find her at some more places here are a couple:
